Ekiti Guber Poll: INEC Begins Distribution of Election Materials to 16 LGAs

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ekiti State has begun the distribution of sensitive election materials ahead of Saturday’s June 20 governorship poll.
The exercise, which took place at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Ado-Ekiti, started early on Thursday at about 8:00 a.m. under the supervision of the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Bunmi Omoseyindemi.
The process was observed by security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Immigration Service, and the Department of State Services (DSS).
INEC officials assigned to the state’s 16 local government areas were seen signing for and collecting materials meant for their respective councils before loading them into vehicles escorted by security operatives.
Speaking with journalists, Omoseyindemi described the exercise as smooth and well-coordinated, reiterating the commission’s readiness to conduct a credible, transparent and violence-free election.
He said the early distribution was deliberately supervised to ensure that all materials reached their designated destinations safely and on time.
He also urged eligible voters to turn out en masse on Saturday to exercise their civic rights.
Similarly, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the election, Mr Abayomi Shogunle, assured residents of adequate security, urging voters to participate without fear of intimidation or harassment.
Shogunle said all stakeholders, including voters, election observers, INEC officials, and ad hoc staff, had been factored into a comprehensive security arrangement for the poll.
