The German Ambassador to Nigeria, Annett Günther, has underscored the importance of deepening cultural and commercial exchanges between both countries through the promotion of German wines.
Günther stated this while hosting an exclusive Wine Tasting and Information Event, “German Wines,” at the Civic Centre, Lagos, organized by the Federal Ministry for Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity of the Federal Republic of Germany, in collaboration with the German Embassy and Consulate in Nigeria.
According to the envoy: “German wines are excellent and have a good reputation. German-Nigerian relations are very close in many ways. We would love to add this extra element and introduce German wines to the Nigerian public. That’s why there are wine producers and distributors here today; by facilitating direct engagement between German wine producers and key stakeholders in Nigeria’s wine sector, the event.”
The event brought together leading Nigerian wine merchants, importers, distributors and wine experts for an immersive introduction to the diversity, quality, and heritage of German wines.
He said that the event was designed to foster a deeper understanding of German wine culture while strengthening commercial ties between Germany and Nigeria’s growing wine industry.
Through guided tastings and expert-led discussions, participants gained valuable insights into Germany’s renowned wine-producing regions, winemaking traditions, and the distinctive qualities that have earned German wines international recognition. The initiative also highlighted opportunities for increased trade and market access for German wineries seeking to expand their presence in Nigeria.
