The Federal and Niger State governments have been called upon to, as a matter of urgency, compensate the families of those who lost their lives from bombs believed to have been mistakenly dropped on some innocent people around Kawo, Uregi communities of Niger State during joint military operations in the area.
Speaking to journalists in his Minna office on the attack, Awaisu Wana condemned what he termed, “nonchalant attitudes” of the federal, state and local governments towards the victims and their families.
“It is very wrong for the federal and Niger state government to pretend not to know that about nine innocent people lost their lives while several others were badly injured and rendered homeless during the attack, an International Peace Ambassador, Alhaji Mohammed Awaisu Wana bemoaned.
The International Peace Ambassador said he is holding all the three tiers of government accountable for not showing sympathy by paying condolence visit to the families of the victims and the entire area after the attacks.
Wana, a member of the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) said the Commission had already concluded arrangements to ensure that the affected families are adequately compensated.
“The IHRC has concluded arrangements and we are going to any length to fight and ensure that the federal, state and LGA do the needful to the families of the victims, including those that are still hospitalized surviving at the mercy of God”.
While using the opportunity to condole families of those who lost their lives as a result of the ugly accident in the name of bombing armed bandits, Awaisu Wana called on the three tiers of government to step up action to ameliorate the sufferings of families of the victims, particularly those that sustained various degrees of injuries still lying in hospital beds.
Recall that on the 21st of May 2026, an Airforce fighter jet mistakengly dropped bombs on Kawo, Ushama commuinty while aiming at the armed bandits operating in the area, which led to the loss of about nine lives and several others seriously injured.
