I Celebrate Divorce When It Happens — Comedian Bovi Sparks

Popular Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma has sparked a major online conversation after revealing that he celebrates when married couples divorce.
The entertainer made the remarks during a recent appearance on The Morayo Show.
According to the 46-year-old comedian, divorce is often a sign of liberation, meaning that one or both partners are no longer thriving or finding peace in the marriage.
“I celebrate when people get a divorce. It means one or both people are not breathing well in that space. I will not suffer for anybody, and I don’t want anybody to suffer for me,” Bovi stated.
He was, however, quick to clarify that his perspective does not mean his own marriage has been entirely smooth. He disclosed that his 17-year marriage has faced its own share of difficulties, noting that he tied the knot at the relatively young age of 29.
“That does not mean my marriage has been easy for 17 years. It has not. I got married when I was 29 years old,” he added.
Bovi’s unconventional stance on divorce has divided public opinion on social media platforms. While some fans agreed with his view that people should leave toxic environments rather than suffer in silence, others criticised the statement, arguing that it undermines the sacred institution of marriage.
