Ibom Deep Sea Port Moves Closer To Execution As Eno, Partners Review Feasibility Report In Paris

The Ibom Deep Sea Port project has moved a step closer to execution following a high-level technical session in Paris, France, where Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, and prospective investors reviewed the project’s technical feasibility report and agreed on critical implementation pathways.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued at the weekend by the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, following the meeting held on Friday with officials of Africa Global Logistics (AGL) Group and other stakeholders.

According to the statement, the session focused on the recently completed Technical Feasibility Report prepared by international consultancy firm Worley Parsons, which is expected to provide the framework for investment decisions, project implementation, and long-term sustainability.

Governor Eno used the engagement to push for faster project delivery, calling for clear timelines, measurable milestones, and definitive next steps to ensure the long-awaited maritime infrastructure project progresses from planning to execution.

The governor reaffirmed the commitment of the Akwa Ibom State Government and its partners to the realization of the deep seaport, describing it as a strategic blue economy project capable of transforming the state’s economic fortunes.

He noted that the project has the potential to position Akwa Ibom as a major maritime, trade, and logistics hub within the Gulf of Guinea, while creating employment opportunities and attracting local and foreign investments.

The technical session also examined investment models, implementation frameworks, and sustainability measures considered necessary for the successful delivery and operation of the port.

Stakeholders at the meeting reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing the project, expressing confidence in its economic viability and regional significance.

According to the statement, the governor was accompanied by the Chairman of the Technical Committee on the Ibom Deep Sea Port Project and former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mrs. Mfon Usoro; the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; Commissioner for Science and Digital Economy, Dr. Frank Ekpeyong; Managing Director of Hensek Integrated Services, Engr. Uwem Okoko and other members of the state delegation.

The Ibom Deep Sea Port is one of the flagship infrastructure projects of the Akwa Ibom State Government and is expected to complement the state’s industrialisation agenda by boosting maritime trade, logistics capacity, and regional connectivity in the South-South.
