Ijebu Congress expresses profound appreciation to the Governors of Ogun and Lagos States for their commitment to security

Drawing inspiration from the Yoruba adage, “Yin ni yin ki ẹni le ṣe emiran” (one should commend those who have done well so that others may be encouraged to do likewise), the Ijebu Congress deems it necessary to publicly express its profound appreciation to the Governors of Ogun and Lagos States for their unwavering commitment to the security of lives and property in their respective states.

We particularly commend the sustained efforts of both governors in addressing insecurity, especially the menace of kidnapping and other violent crimes. At a time when many parts of the country continue to contend with the activities of kidnappers and other criminal elements, Ogun and Lagos States have demonstrated commendable vigilance and strategic coordination in safeguarding residents.

We also acknowledge the exceptional dedication of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the Commissioners of Police in Ogun and Lagos States, whose proactive operations and decisive interventions have significantly reduced criminal activity, especially along the Sagamu–Ogbere Expressway corridor. Their professionalism and prompt responses are worthy of commendation.

While some may argue that ensuring security is a fundamental constitutional responsibility of state governments, it is important to recognise and appreciate exemplary leadership wherever it is demonstrated.

Effective security is not achieved merely by occupying the office of Chief Security Officer; it requires strategic planning, strong collaboration with security agencies, continuous monitoring, and decisive leadership. Such efforts deserve public recognition and encouragement.

We equally extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, for their exemplary leadership and commitment to strengthening security across the region. We also commend the Commissioners of Police for Ogun and Lagos States, respectively, for their outstanding service and dedication to protecting lives and property.

On behalf of Ijebu Congress, the Association of Ijebu Sons and Daughters across the world, we join the good people of Ogun and Lagos States, as well as other well-meaning Nigerians, in expressing our deep appreciation to these committed leaders and security officials for their invaluable service. We encourage them to remain steadfast and continue their commendable efforts toward ensuring lasting peace, security, and the protection of lives and property.

May their dedication continue to yield greater safety and prosperity for our people.
