A three-storey building has collapsed in the Alakija area of Lagos State, leaving an unconfirmed number of people trapped beneath the rubble.
The incident occurred at about 11:40 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
Eyewitnesses said several occupants were inside the building when it suddenly gave way, with many feared trapped under the debris.
As of the time of filing this report, emergency responders were being mobilised to the scene to commence rescue operations.
The exact number of casualties and those trapped remains unclear.
The latest incident adds to the growing list of building collapses recorded across the country in recent weeks.
On June 5, a three-storey building under construction partially collapsed in the Lekki Phase 1 area of Lagos, claiming one life.
Similarly, a five-storey building collapsed on Odili Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on June 24, raising fresh concerns over building safety and compliance with construction standards.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the Alakija collapse.
