JUST IN: Substance-Induced Lies – Atiku’s Camp Fires Back at Babachir Lawal

The Atiku Media Office has hit back at former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, describing his recent attacks on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate as completely false and driven by personal hatred.

In a press release on Monday, the media office stated that while Lawal has every right to leave the party, he has no right to spread lies about Atiku Abubakar.

The camp dismissed Lawal’s allegations of rigging, tribalism, and religious bigotry, labeling them as lazy and ridiculous. They insisted that Atiku remains one of Nigeria’s most liberal and unifying politicians.

“Babachir was perfectly describing his own character rather than Atiku’s,” the statement said. “The former SGF seeks power by dividing people. All his arguments with others are caused by selfishness. He uses sentiment to achieve his own ambitions, not the interests of his people or Nigeria.”

The media office also noted that Lawal failed to provide any proof of election fraud in the recently concluded ADC primaries, choosing instead to make irrelevant attacks on Atiku’s family.

They urged the former SGF to check his conscience and stop promoting division for personal gain, adding that losing a political contest does not justify acting as an agent of division.

Meanwhile, on Monday night, Lawal appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today to explain why he resigned from the ADC and referred to Atiku as “Kachalla”—a title he claimed Fulani bandits give to their leaders.

Lawal had earlier released an exit letter titled “The Kachalla Series Part 1,” calling the ADC primary election a fake exercise where results were pre-written. He also stated that despite his issues with the current administration, President Bola Tinubu would still make a better leader than Atiku.
