Kano Closes Two Health Training Institution For Failing To Meet Regulatory Standards

The Kano State Government has ordered the immediate closure of two private health training schools within the Nasarawa Local Government Area. This decisive action follows severe regulatory violations and a failure by the institutions to meet the state’s minimum operational standards.
The affected institutions include the IBN SINA College of Health Science and Technology, situated at Dakata Kawaji next to the Juma’at Mosque. The second is the Life Line College of Health Science and Technology, located on Mai Sikeli Street in the Dakata Industrial Area, Bela Road, Tsamiyar Gare.
In a statement released on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the Kano State Ministry of Health announced the immediate shutdown of two private health training institutions, the ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa, the enforcement action was prompted by a comprehensive assessment, which determined that the institutions were operating without the proper legal authorization.
According to the ministry, the two schools were neither properly verified nor approved by the Kano State Ministry of Health and also lacked accreditation from relevant professional and regulatory bodies responsible for health education and training in the country.
The statement added that investigations uncovered major deficiencies in the institutions, including inadequate qualified teaching personnel, poor learning facilities, insufficient infrastructure and non-compliance with established educational and operational standards required for effective health manpower development.
The ministry further said the institutions failed to adhere to professional ethics, regulatory guidelines and other mandatory requirements put in place to safeguard the quality of healthcare education and ensure the competence of future healthcare professionals.
Speaking on the development, the ministry said it remained committed to protecting students, parents and the general public from institutions that compromise educational quality and professional standards.

The statement reads, “The training of healthcare workers must be conducted only in institutions that meet approved standards and regulatory requirements”, the statement read”.
The government also warned proprietors of health training institutions across the state to strictly comply with all legal and regulatory provisions guiding their operations.
It noted that shutting down non-compliant institutions had become necessary to ensure quality healthcare education, protect the interests of students and maintain excellence in healthcare service delivery across Kano State.
