MAKURDI – Lobi Stars Football Club (FC), Makurdi, has established the Lobi Stars Under-19 Feeder Team, which is expected to nurture and develop young, talented footballers that would eventually feature in the senior team.
The Chairman, Lobi Stars FC, Simon Terver Ikya, who disclosed this, stated that the club decided because it is of the belief that investing in young talents is one of the ways to secure the future success of Lobi Stars.
Speaking at the opening of the Lobi Stars Talent Hunt, 2026, the club chairman further informed that the management of the club is also working on establishing a female football team.
Excited Ikya said, “Today, I am particularly pleased to announce another major step in our long-term development strategy: the establishment of the Lobi Stars Under-19 Feeder Team.
“This initiative represents a significant investment in the future of the club. Across the world, successful football clubs understand that sustainable success is built on effective youth development systems.
“The Under-19 team will provide a structured pathway for identifying, nurturing, and developing talented young footballers who can eventually progress into the senior team.
“Beyond strengthening our football structure, the feeder team will create opportunities for talented youths across Benue state and Nigeria to develop their skills, pursue professional careers, and contribute positively to society.
“We firmly believe that investing in young people today is the surest way to secure the future success of Lobi Stars Football Club’, he emphasised.
Furthermore, he noted that “In addition to youth development, management is actively pursuing plans for the establishment of a female football team. Modern football administration demands inclusiveness and equal opportunity.
“Women’s football continues to experience remarkable growth globally, and we are determined to position Lobi Stars FC to participate meaningfully in that progress.
“The proposed female team will create opportunities for talented female footballers and further expand the club’s contribution to sports development in Benue state”, Ikya observed.
