Military offensive forces top ISWAP leaders to surrender, 76 fighters lay down arms

The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, has recorded another breakthrough in the fight against insurgency, with a fresh group of senior Islamic State West Africa Province leaders surrendering to troops following sustained military operations.
According to the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the latest surrender was driven by intensified operations backed by credible and actionable intelligence against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists.
Goni said the surrendered insurgents were key members of the terrorist network who abandoned their enclaves due to relentless military pressure.
He disclosed that they are currently undergoing profiling, debriefing and other established procedures in a secure location.
The military spokesman noted that sustained offensives had continued to dismantle terrorist strongholds, disrupt command and logistics structures and restrict the operational freedom of insurgents across the North-East.
He added that military operations had also weakened the terrorists’ combat capability and eroded confidence within their leadership.
According to him, 76 terrorist foot soldiers, along with some members of their families, surrendered to troops within the last one week.
Goni said the latest development reflected the effectiveness of the military’s counter-terrorism strategy anchored on intelligence-led operations, precision strikes and joint operational coordination.
He added that troops would sustain the offensive until all terrorist elements were either neutralised or compelled to surrender.
