The Nasarawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed reports of a leadership crisis within the party, insisting that Rt. Hon. David Emmanuel Ombugadu remains its governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.
In a statement issued in Lafia on Sunday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Hon. Musa Bako Shabu, described claims that another candidate had emerged under the PDP platform as false and misleading.
According to the statement, there is only one recognised leadership structure in the Nasarawa PDP, which conducted all processes leading to the emergence of candidates for the 2027 elections.“There is no faction in the Peoples Democratic Party in Nasarawa State. The party has one recognised leadership and one governorship candidate for the 2027 general election,” the statement said.
The party maintained that Ombugadu emerged through duly conducted party processes, including the sale of nomination forms, screening of aspirants and primary elections.It urged members and supporters to disregard reports suggesting that any other individual had emerged as the PDP governorship candidate in the state.
The PDP also expressed confidence that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would, at the appropriate time, publish the names of candidates who emerged from recognised party primaries. The party reaffirmed its commitment to unity and said it remains focused on preparations for the 2027 general election.
