NSCDC Operatives Arrest Two Wanted Ex-Togolese Soldiers, Over 30 Foreign Nationals In Badagry Raid

A major security operation in Lagos State by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has reportedly led to the arrest of more than 30 foreign nationals, including two former Togolese soldiers believed to be wanted by authorities in their home country, according to security sources familiar with the development.
The arrests were said to have followed an intelligence-led operation by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Badagry Division, after weeks of surveillance targeting a suspected transnational network operating within the border community.
Sources disclosed that the operation was carried out in several locations across the Badagry axis, resulting in the apprehension of individuals from different West and Central African countries, including Togo, Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Cameroon and Gabon.
Preliminary findings suggest that the suspects may have been involved in a cross-border scheme allegedly used to lure young people from neighbouring countries into Nigeria under the guise of employment and business opportunities.
Investigators are reportedly probing allegations that some of the recruits were subjected to confinement, intimidation and extortion upon arrival, while efforts are underway to determine the full extent of the group’s activities.
Security sources further revealed that several identification documents and other materials were recovered during the operation. Authorities are said to be conducting detailed forensic and biometric examinations to verify the identities of those arrested and establish possible links to criminal networks operating across the region.
Particular attention has reportedly been placed on two Togolese nationals whose identities allegedly match names contained in military desertion and wanted notices previously issued by authorities in Togo.
Although officials have yet to confirm the claims, sources said that investigators are examining whether the suspects have any connections to political or military-related activities outside Nigeria.
A Facebook post by the Executive Chairman of Olorunda LCDA, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, indicated that the operation was reportedly coordinated by officers of the NSCDC Badagry Division under the leadership of Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) Ekunola Gbenga Abraham.
Findings revealed that the arrests could have significant implications for regional security cooperation, especially as investigators work to uncover possible international connections and determine whether the network posed a wider security threat within the sub-region.
It was also gathered that the foreign nationals may be handed over to relevant immigration authorities after profiling and the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
As of press time, the Lagos State Command of the NSCDC had not issued an official statement confirming the arrests or the allegations against the suspects. Other security agencies contacted for comments were also yet to respond.
However, sources insist that investigations remain active, with more revelations expected in the coming days as authorities deepen efforts to unravel the activities of the suspected network.
