NYCN Set For Local Polls In Kebbi, Tasks Youth On Peace, Intelligence Gathering

Kebbi state chapter of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has hinted that it is gearing up for local elections in Kebbi state following the expiration of local government councils executives of the youth body in the state.
The state Chairman of NYCN, engineer Ahmed Rufai Abubakar Khalifa gave the hint on Friday at a symbolic media briefing held at Kebbi state ministry for youth and sports to intimate the public on their preparations for the local chapters polls.
According to him, in line the constitution of the youth council ,local chapters polls are organized to usher in new leadership after tenure expiration of existing executives to maintain uninterrupted leadership and youth programs already being implementation.
He stated that polls notice begins June the 5th, 2026, while sales of nomination forms is slated for June, the 6th,2026 and main elections will take place on June , the 27th through to June the 28th,2026.
Khalifa added that eligible candidates must not be above thirty five years of age and must be mentally, physically and educationally fit as candidates must have at least a school leaving certificate to be eligible to vie for any post.
He commended Kebbi state governor,Dr Nasir Idris for his immense support to youth and the proper representations they are enjoying under his government even as he appreciated the efforts of commissioner for youth,Nura fingila and all the staff of the ministry of youth for their contributions to the success of NYCN in Kebbi state.
Engineer Ahmed explained that in the spirit of gender balance … of deputy coordinator and two other post are exclusive reserves of women to ensure equity.
He urged youth in the state to help in the fight against insecurity by providing the security agencies useful intelligence information to ensure peace continue to rain in the state.
