Tinubu’s Economic Reforms To Reposition Nigeria Not Punish Citizens, Says Aiyedatiwa

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has assured Nigerians that the economic reforms embarked upon by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are meant to reposition the nation and not to punish the citizens.
He stated this on Friday in Akure, Ondo State capital, while hosting leaders of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in the state at the Cocoa Conference Hall, Governor’s Office, Alagbaka.
Aiyedatiwa noted that most citizens criticized President Tinubu because they were oblivious to the objectives and benefits of the reforms.
Commending the group for their grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections, he tasked the leadership with intensifying efforts to educate the people on the objectives and benefits of the socio-economic reforms embarked upon by the President.
The Governor said: “The economic reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are beginning to reposition Nigeria’s economy, with the initial hardship occasioned by the policies gradually giving way to positive outcomes.
“Many citizens criticise the President because they lack adequate information on the objectives and benefits of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Aiyedatiwa, therefore, charged the group to intensify grassroots sensitisation on the achievements of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration ahead of the next general election, saying all efforts must be encouraged to deliver maximum votes for President Tinubu in the state.
He explained that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors was established to bridge the communication gap between the Federal Government and Nigerians.
“The group was established to bridge the communication gap between the Renewed Hope Agenda and Nigerians, who are the intended beneficiaries. Some people do not have enough information, and that is why many still criticise Mr President.
“We have to educate them and take the message to every part of the country. We must let the people know what Mr President has done and why we have to support his re-election,” Aiyedatiwa said.
The governor declared that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration had recorded significant achievements in infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, and economic reforms.
He identified the student loan scheme, exchange rate convergence, and the elimination of multiple foreign exchange windows as key reforms that had strengthened the economy by eliminating distortions and curbing round-tripping.
The governor also outlined ongoing Federal Government road projects, including the reconstruction of the Ibadan-Akure Highway with concrete pavement and the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, describing them as strategic investments that would enhance connectivity and stimulate economic activities.
He assured that motorists would soon begin to enjoy safer and more convenient travel as work progressed on the projects.
Aiyedatiwa urged members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to sustain grassroots mobilisation and public enlightenment, describing their role as crucial to building wider support for President Tinubu.
He commended the group’s structure from the state level to the polling units and assured members of the continued support of the Ondo State Government.
The governor also expressed confidence in the collaboration between the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he said would further strengthen the party and improve its electoral prospects.
Earlier, the State Director-General and Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan disclosed that the organisation had completed the recruitment of 25 ambassadors in every political unit across Ondo State to deepen grassroots mobilisation for the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He explained that the group, inaugurated in the state on May 5, was established to take government policies to the grassroots, correct misinformation, project the government’s achievements, and channel feedback from the people to the government.
According to Olabimtan, the group’s implementation templates developed at the national level had been fully adopted in the state, positioning the organisation to begin field operations as an effective link between government and the people.
He further revealed that the RHA was compiling a separate list of 400 ambassadors in each ward to strengthen its mobilisation network.
Olabimtan added that plans were underway to organise a Youth Summit and a series of town hall meetings to sensitise young people and other stakeholders on the programmes and policies of the Tinubu administration, particularly those relating to youth development and empowerment.
Olabimtan reaffirmed that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors remains an organ of the APC and would continue to work with the party at all levels in line with its slogan: “One Party, One Message, One Mobilisation, United We Stand, Divided We Fall.”
