Onos Oborevwori Marks Gov Oborevwori’s Birthday By Sharing Gifts To Delta Para Athletes In Lagos

To mark the birthday celebration of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Executive Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Honourable Onoriode Joshua Oborevwori, has visited Delta State para-athletes camping at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, where he presented gifts to the athletes.

The weekend visit, which has generated positive reactions among athletes and sports enthusiasts, underscores the commitment of the Delta State Sports Commission leadership to athlete welfare, development, and overall well-being.

Since assuming office as Executive Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission in 2024, Hon. Onos Oborevwori has continued to prioritize the welfare of athletes, a move that has contributed significantly to the improved performances recorded by Delta athletes across various competitions. The state’s football teams have also benefited from the renewed drive for excellence that has become synonymous with his administration.

Widely regarded by many athletes as a father figure because of his close relationship and unwavering support, Onos Oborevwori has made regular and unscheduled visits to training camps a hallmark of his leadership style.

His latest visit to the para-athletes’ training camp in Lagos further strengthened the bond between the athletes and the state’s number one sports administrator. The athletes beamed with excitement at receiving him and appreciated the encouragement and liveliness he brought to their camp in Lagos.

And to commemorate Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s birthday, Onos Oborevwori presented wonderful gifts, jerseys and track suits to the athletes and urged them to intensify preparations ahead of upcoming national, regional, continental, and international competitions.

While commending both the athletes and their coaches for their dedication, discipline, and commitment to excellence, Onos Oborevwori assured them of continued support from the Delta State Government and reiterated the administration’s commitment to the development of para-sports and the provision of adequate resources to help athletes achieve their goals and bolster their careers.

In response, the athletes thanked Onos Oborevwori for the thoughtful gesture and pledged to maintain discipline and focus as they continue preparations for future competitions at both national and international levels.

The Delta State para-athletes and other Delta athletes are currently preparing for the 24th National Sports Festival, scheduled to hold in Enugu State later this year.
