The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has petitioned the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies over what it described as a fresh attempt by the Osun APC to stage “gangster attacks” on residents and blame the violence on Accord members.
In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by the State Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, the party alleged that the APC is working to frustrate the IGP’s directive for peace ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Akande alleged that the APC on Saturday arranged an attack on a resident in Osogbo who was later pressured to implicate the Accord Party.
The party also said another false flag attack occurred after reports that APC political thugs allegedly visited the Okinni area on Saturday night. It added that one of the victims blamed operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps.
The party faulted a viral audio and video being circulated by the APC, claiming that the voice of APC gang members could be heard and that the interview site was obviously not a hospital.
Akande denied any involvement by Accord in attacks and alleged that the opposition party plans to put Accord fez cap and symbols on its operatives to implicate the party.

“We alerted the police to this development two weeks ago, but no action was taken,” Akande said.
The party expressed concern that alleged APC political hoodlums continue to move around fully armed despite the IGP’s directives issued through the Deputy Inspector General of Police.
It said that despite the killings and shootings recorded in the state, the police had yet to arrest any of the perpetrators.
The party also accused the Commissioner of Police of failing to enforce the IGP’s directives and called for the arrest of those behind the killing of Accord members in the state.
The Osun APC and the Osun State Police Command had not responded to the allegations as of press time.
