The Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has cautioned the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, over his choice of former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, as his running mate.
In a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric alleged that Kwankwaso could undermine Obi’s presidential ambition and may not be fully committed to their political arrangement.
According to him, Obi has become “too desperate” in his pursuit of the presidency and is allegedly not paying attention to what he described as divine warnings.
“Peter Obi doesn’t listen to divine instructions, and because of this, he has fallen into the wrong hands for his ambition,” he said.
He further claimed that Kwankwaso had already “sold him out” politically and would not genuinely support his presidential bid.
“Kwankwaso isn’t ready to fight for him; he will eventually sell him out, but he doesn’t know it yet. He has already muddled Obi’s presidential ambition,” he added.
Primate Ayodele also stated that Kwankwaso’s political moves were driven by personal interest rather than alliance loyalty, warning that his intentions would eventually become clear.
“Kwankwaso is doing everything for his personal interest and nothing more,” he said.
While stressing that his comments were not out of hostility, the cleric said his concern was based on what he described as spiritual insight into Nigeria’s political landscape. He also added that, in his view, Obi was “not yet mature” for the office he seeks.
Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso are yet to respond to the claims.
