Barewa College, Zaria is one of Nigeria’s most famous secondary schools. It was founded in 1921 by Sir Hugh Clifford, the Governor- General of Nigeria ,at the time and G.A.J Bieneman. It was formerly known as Katsina College. The school was meant to provide quality education for the sons of the Northern elites and mould future leaders for the region. It is what Kings College, Lagos and some notable Ivy League schools in the South-West is, to the people upnorth.
