2026 World Cup: Messi leads race for Golden Boot ahead of final [Top 7]
Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, is now leading the race for the Golden Boot ahead of Sunday’s World Cup final against Spain.
Although Messi did not find the back of the net in the 2-1 win over England, he provided two match-winning assists.
That brings his tally in the tournament to four.
Both Messi and France’s Kylian Mbappe have eight goals, but the Inter Miami superstar is now ahead.
Mbappe only has three assists – with assists being the deciding factor if they both end on the same amount of goals.
