The Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC has confirmed that four coaches of the Warri-Itakpe Train Service derailed on Monday.

The Corporation assured Nigerians its officials are currently managing the situation and providing necessary assistance.

The agency said emergency response teams and relevant authorities had been deployed to the scene.

The agency’s reaction is contained in a statement issued by the Managing Director, Kayode Opeifa.
Mr. Opeifa added that the corporation was closely monitoring developments and would provide further details as more information become available.

He clarified that four coaches left the rail track during the incident, an occurrence referred to in railway operations as a derailment.
