Two Caleb College Students Emerge World’s Best In English, Mathematics

Two students of Caleb-British International School (CBIS), Lagos, have achieved global recognition after emerging as the highest-scoring candidates in English Language and Mathematics respectively in the 2025 International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations conducted by the Cambridge International Examination Council.

Miss Akota-Chika Serena of CBIS, Magodo, earned the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award for recording the highest mark worldwide in IGCSE English as a Second Language (Speaking Endorsement), while Tolulope Israel Adekimi of CBIS, Lekki, received the same prestigious award for attaining the highest score globally in Mathematics.

Speaking on their achievement, both students attributed their success to the collective efforts of the school’s highly skilled academic and non-academic staff, whose commitment extends beyond educational excellence to the overall well-being of students, quality manpower development and capacity building for national advancement.

Reacting to the feat, the Director of Caleb Group of Schools, Dr. Ola Adebogun, said the accomplishment has brought global recognition to Nigeria and further demonstrated the students’ intelligence, dedication and thorough preparation.

According to him, the achievement also reflects the institution’s unwavering commitment to quality education through the effective integration of Nigerian and British curricula, a model designed to nurture accomplished, ambitious and morally upright young people who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to society.

Dr. Adebogun explained that CBIS, Magodo and CBIS, Lekki were established with the vision of developing confident, happy and well-rounded children by fostering intellectual growth, physical development and consideration for others, which he described as essential foundations for lasting success.

“At Caleb Group of Schools, we provide a competitive environment that promotes achievement in every child. Sometimes, achievement is simply about participation, and the opportunities and facilities available to our students are second to none. Our consistent success at both national and international levels speaks for itself,” he said.

He further noted that the schools continue to invest heavily in innovative teaching methods, including flipped classrooms and AI-driven language laboratories, to help students discover their potential and develop the confidence required to lead.
The renowned educationist identified the institution’s strict adherence to due process, recruitment of high-quality personnel and compliance with quality assurance standards prescribed by government and regulatory bodies as key factors behind the outstanding performance of its students in national and international examinations and competitions.

Dr. Adebogun also attributed the numerous laurels won by the Caleb Group of Schools within Nigeria and across the globe to its foundation as a faith-based institution that combines moral values with academic excellence while providing a serene and conducive learning environment.
“It is at Caleb Group of Schools that every child has a fair opportunity to fulfil his or her dreams. We offer a competitive environment where focused young minds are nurtured to attain their full potential,” he stated.
The Visitor to Caleb University further maintained that graduates of the Group of Schools have distinguished themselves worldwide in both character and learning, excelling in higher education and various professional fields.

“At Caleb Group of Schools, we insist on doing things right at all times, guided by our core values of godliness, innovation, service, integrity, teamwork, excellence and creativity,” he added.
