2026 World Cup: 7 countries qualify for Round of 16

Co-hosts Mexico are the seventh country to make it into the Round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup.
Javier Aguirre achieved the feat by beating Ecuador 2-0 on Wednesday morning.
The two goals came in the first half from Julian Quinones and Raul Jimenez.
Piero Hincapie picked up a 95th red card as Ecuador finished with 10 men.
Mexico are the second co-hosts to qualify after Canada dumped out South Africa.
They will now face the winner of the England vs DR Congo clash.
Brazil, Norway, Paraguay, France and Morocco are the other teams to have progressed into the last 16.
