87th Birthday: Osoba Demonstrates That Leadership Is About Service, Not Self – Rep member

The House of Representatives member representing Akoko Southwest/Akoko SouthEast federal constituency, Hon. Adegboyega Adefarati, has celebrated with the two-term former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, OFR, on the occasion of his 87th birth anniversary.

Hon Adefarati, in his goodwill message, said Chief Osoba has shown us that leadership is about service, not self.

In a statement by his media office, Adefarati described Chief Osoba as “a quintessential journalist, an astute administrator, and a foremost statesman whose track records showcase a committed and dedicated patriot who has paid his dues to advance the progress and development of Nigeria.

“I celebrate with a foremost statesman, journalist, and two-term former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, OFR, on the occasion of his 87th birthday anniversary. Chief Osoba is a towering figure in Nigerian public life. From the newsroom to the Government House in Ogun State, and to the highest levels of national politics.

He has served this country with integrity, courage, unshakable commitment and dedication to truth and good governance. As a leader in the progressive fold, his wisdom, mentorship and statesmanship continue to inspire generations of leaders. Ogun State and Nigeria are better for his decades of service.”

“Baba, as we fondly called him, is more than a former Governor. He is a builder of men, a defender of democracy, and a voice of reason in our nation. His journey as a journalist was a remarkable one for the nation. From his days at the Daily Times and Nigerian Herald, and the formidable roles played as a key player in the NADECO movement down to his exemplary and emulatable service as Governor of Ogun State, Chief Osoba has shown us that leadership is about service, not self. On this day, I celebrate your grace, your counsel, and your undying love for Nigeria. May God continue to strengthen you and grant you more years in good health.
