AGM 2026: NESG Re-elects Directors, Ratifies New Board Appointments

The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has convened its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) to review the activities and financial performance of the organisation for the financial year ended December 31, 2025.

The hybrid meeting, held at the NESG Summit House in Lagos and virtually, brought together members of the Board of Directors, members of the Group, auditors, company secretaries, and key stakeholders.

In his address at the meeting, Mr. Niyi Yusuf, Chairman of the NESG Board of Directors, extended his sincere appreciation to the board, management, and members of the think tank for their unwavering dedication to national interest and economic development.

He acknowledged the Group’s achievements over the past year, despite prevailing economic and policy challenges, and urged stakeholders to remain committed to NESG’s mission of promoting sustainable development through evidence-based policy advocacy and public-private dialogue.

A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation and adoption of the Audited Financial Statements, together with the Reports of the Directors and Independent Auditors, for the year ended December 31, 2025.

During the meeting, members also approved the reappointment of PKF Professional Services as the external auditors of the NESG for the ensuing financial year and authorised the Board of Directors to determine the auditors’ remuneration.

The AGM also considered matters relating to the composition of the Board of Directors.

Members acknowledged the retirement of Mrs. Wonu Adetayo and Mr. Frank Aigbogun, who did not seek re-election, and expressed profound appreciation for their outstanding contributions and over fifteen years of dedicated service to the Nigerian Economic Summit Group.

The meeting subsequently approved the re-election of the following directors to continue serving on the NESG Board.

They include Dr. Philip Mshelbila,Dr. Juliet Ehimuan, Mr. Wasim El-Husseini, Mr. Segun Ogunsanya, Mr. Mohamad Darwish, Mr. Demola Sogunle and Mr. Abubakar Suleiman.

In addition, members ratified the appointments of the following directors who had earlier been appointed by the Board to fill existing vacancies.

They include Dr. Owen Omogiafo,Mr. Rohan D’Souza, and Ms. Surrayah Ahmad.

The successful re-election and ratification of these appointments further strengthen the Board with accomplished leaders drawn from diverse sectors, reinforcing the NESG’s commitment to strong corporate governance, strategic leadership, and multidisciplinary expertise in advancing Nigeria’s economic transformation agenda.

The AGM concluded with a renewed commitment by the Board, management, and members to deepen collaboration with the public and private sectors in delivering evidence-based policy recommendations, fostering constructive public-private dialogue, and promoting reforms that support inclusive economic growth and sustainable national development.

As Nigeria continues to navigate a dynamic economic landscape, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group said it remains steadfast in its mission to champion innovative policy solutions and strategic partnerships that drive competitiveness, resilience, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.
