The Coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) has said that it is not deterred in pursuing justice on Ajiran killings, adding that no amount of campaign of calumny will halt the wheel of justice that is grinding slowly and steadily on the matter.
Spokesperson, Coalition of Civil Society Organisations, Comrade Declan Ihekaire, stated this while addressing a press conference in Lagos, on Monday.
Delivering a statement from Coalition of Core Civil Rights Activists On Cheap Blackmail and Lies To Pull Down, titled: “When Lies, Blackmails Are Being Painted As Truth, Then Comes The Patriotic Need To Debunk Such,” Ihekaire said that as the eyes and mouthpiece of the people with high sense of patriotism, the coalition “cannot stand idle to watch lies and blackmail targeted at individuals high and low in the society to go unchecked.”
While refuting the allegation of corruption levelled against Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, Moshood Jimoh, in the Ajiran case, Ihekaire reinforced the importance of allowing the judicial process to run its full course.
He, therefore, said that it is an evil unspeakable to mislead the public that AIG Jimoh investigated the murder of Mohbad.
The statement noted that “The Nigeria Police Force as a regimented security institution has established protocols of conducting investigation, prevention and prosecution of crime.”
He vowed that no matter the level of blackmail, the CSOs shall stand by the truth as the “chronological analysis leading to the assumption of office of Moshood Olouhundare Jimoh as the CP Lagos Command points to the fact that those saying he was Compol Lagos Command then are blinded with hatred, pull-him-down-syndrome and witch-hunting.”
Saying that it is evident that corruption is fighting back, Ihekaire added that as the conscience of the nation, the CSOs would not fold their hands and watch criminals spread their tentacles unchecked.
The CSOs’ spokesperson noted that the blackmailers of AIG Jimoh are fighting back because the Police boss is on top of the story and the prime suspect is already in the Police net.
While setting the records straight, Ihekaire stated that “The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State when the singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, died on September 12, 2023, was Idowu Owohunwa.
“CP Adegoke Fayoade succeeded Idowu Owohunwa as the Lagos State Commissioner of Police in December 2023, after Owohunwa was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).”
According to the records, he said: “Commissioner of Police Adegoke Fayoade was succeeded in Lagos State by CP Ishola Olanrewaju Olawale on September 17, 2024, after Fayoade was promoted to Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
“CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh succeeded CP Olanrewaju Ishola as the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State on February 18, 2025. (He was later succeeded by CP Tijani Fatai in March 2026.”
According to the CSOs’ spokesperson, “The chronological presentation of the various commissioners of police that have served in Lagos from 2023 till date is essential to disabuse the minds of unsuspecting public that the sponsor(s) of murder cases, land grabbing and other related criminal enterprises that the long arm of the law caught up with them and are presently being prosecuted, hence they have resorted to cheap blackmailing of senior police officer, and the former Commissioner of Lagos State Command, AIG Olohundare Jimoh, whose excellent and professional performance in Lagos earned him a rise in his career and posting to a high profile zonal command, Zone 2.”
While chiding ignorant citizens for misleading the public, Ihekaire said: “It is, therefore, a figment of hallucination for a non-state actor and illiterates who have access to mislead the public through their presence on social media, a menace and social vice that criminal elements of the society now engage to undermine the integrity and competence of constituted authority in the discharge and administration of its constitutional power and duty for the benefits of the people and the country.”
Cognizant of the consequences of ignorance in the society, the group said that it cannot rule out the excesses of illiterates that the government has provided access to quality education for through NELFUND and other channel but have chosen to remain uneducated and crude in their assessment of sensitive social and security matter.
