KANO — A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Comrade Faizu Alfindiki, has accused the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of being responsible for the political setbacks confronting his movement following the defection of several key allies.
Alfindiki made the remark while reacting to the recent wave of defections involving Senator Rufai Sani Hanga and other prominent politicians who were long regarded as loyalists of the former Kano governor.
In a statement, Alfindiki said Kwankwaso’s current political challenges were self-inflicted, likening the former governor to someone who destroyed what he had painstakingly built.
“Kwankwaso is his own worst enemy; he built his own house and then destroyed it,” Alfindiki said, employing a metaphor to argue that the former governor’s political decisions had weakened the structure he once commanded.
According to him, the departure of Hanga and other senior political figures reflects growing dissatisfaction within Kwankwaso’s camp and underscores what he described as the consequences of poor political judgment.
He maintained that no external force was responsible for the cracks allegedly emerging within the movement, insisting that the unfolding developments were the result of decisions taken by Kwankwaso himself.
The APC stalwart further argued that the recent political realignments in Kano have altered the state’s political equation ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that more defections could follow.
As of the time of filing this report, Kwankwaso and officials of the NDC had not publicly responded to Alfindiki’s claims.
