AMAC Chairman’s Aide Escapes Death As Speeding Car Crashes Into Official Vehicle In Abuja

The Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Comrade Kingsley Madaki, narrowly escaped death on Wednesday after his official vehicle was involved in a serious road accident in Abuja.

Madaki was said to be travelling with his driver to the commissioning of the 20-unit Judges’ Quarters in Katampe District, where they were to join the AMAC Chairman, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, when the crash occurred.

The vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz GLK with official registration number ABC 107 AC, was reportedly struck by an ash-coloured Toyota Avenza with Lagos registration number KJA 464 FU.

Eyewitnesses said the Toyota Avenza, allegedly driven at high speed by a female motorist, rammed into the passenger side of the official vehicle where Madaki was seated. The impact deployed the airbags and forced the SUV into the road median, leaving it badly damaged.

Police officers and passersby quickly rescued the occupants from the wreckage, while others cleared debris from the road to ease traffic.

The victims were rushed to Model Care Hospital on Bilayamin Usman Street for medical attention.

Madaki was treated for minor injuries and later discharged, while his driver, Wisdom Ihezukwu, who sustained more serious injuries and was bleeding heavily, remained under medical care as of the time of filing this report.

Sources said the driver underwent medical scans to assess possible chest and internal injuries and was reported to be in stable condition while awaiting the results.

The two damaged vehicles have since been taken to the Utako Police Station as police commence investigation into the cause of the accident.
