ABUJA: The global Christian community has witnessed a new chapter of love with recent remarks on discipleship and submission made by popular televangelist and Founder of Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleman.
Apostle Suleman had, during a recent sermon, insisted on humility and submission to spiritual authority, citing Dr. Daysman Oyakhilome, who many referred to as Oyakhilome Jnr, describing him as an outstanding example of humility and discipline.
Apostle Suleman also shared personal accounts about his relationship with Dr. Daysman, which have since generated widespread conversation across Christian communities.
He highlighted Daysman’s approach to ministry leadership, describing him as a leader who continues to prioritize spiritual accountability despite overseeing a ministry with an international footprint.
He recalled that Dr. Daysman Oyakhilome had already finalized preparations for a major ministry program, with promotional posters printed, billboards installed, and all arrangements in place.
However, after receiving instruction from his father, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, President of LoveWorld Incorporated (also known as Christ Embassy), Dr. Daysman canceled the event.
“Posters were out, billboards were out everywhere . . . He just called me and said, ‘This thing will not work. I’m not going to that program because I’ve not been cleared, I’ve not been released,’” Apostle Suleman recounted.
He also shared a similar example of Dr. Daysman seeking guidance before a separate ministry engagement.
According to Apostle Suleman, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome did not give a direct verbal response. Instead, Dr. Daysman Oyakhilome discerned from his spiritual father’s response that he should not proceed until there was a clear direction.
Using these experiences, the Founder of Omega Fire Ministry emphasized that genuine leadership is not measured solely by the size of a ministry or the scale of its influence, but also by a leader’s willingness to remain teachable, accountable, and submitted to spiritual authority. He presented Dr. Daysman’s conduct as an illustration of the values of honor, humility, and obedience, encouraging ministers and believers alike to embrace mentorship and accountability regardless of their level of success or public recognition.
To reinforce his message, Apostle Suleman further referenced the late internationally acclaimed gospel minister Ron Kenoly, whom he described as another example of a globally respected leader who consistently sought his pastor’s approval before accepting ministry invitations.
Apostle Suleman’s remarks have since resonated with many within the Christian community, prompting conversations about the enduring importance of spiritual covering, mentorship, and servant leadership.
For many observers, his comments highlighted Dr. Daysman’s commitment to placing principle above personal ambition, even when doing so required setting aside significant investments of time, planning, and public promotion.
