The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Senatorial Candidate for Benue South, Dr. David Olofu, has expressed deep sorrow over the recent attacks on communities in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, calling on the Federal Government and the Benue State Government to take immediate and decisive steps to protect vulnerable communities from recurring violence.
Olofu, in a statement on Sunday, lamented the attacks on the Otukpo-Nobi community in Okete District and Akpachi-Ugboju, describing the incidents as tragic and unacceptable.
He urged security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice, stressing that swift action is necessary to prevent further attacks and restore confidence among residents.
According to him, the persistent attacks on communities across Benue South demand urgent and coordinated security interventions to safeguard lives and property.
“Every necessary effort must be mobilised to secure our communities and preserve the sanctity of human life,” he stated.
Olofu extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones in the attacks, noting that at least nine persons had been confirmed dead at the time of the statement.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased and asked God to grant comfort, strength and healing to the bereaved families and the affected communities during this difficult period.
The ADC chieftain reaffirmed his solidarity with the people of Otukpo and urged residents to remain vigilant while cooperating with security agencies to promote lasting peace and security across Benue South.
