Benue: Taraku Mills Set To Commence Operations In 35 Days Max – Says Expatriates, Technicians

MAKURDI – Technicians working on the N70 billion worth Taraku Mills, have pledged that they would commence the test running of the factory in early August, that is in the next 35 days, max.
Daily Independent gathered that the technicians had commenced work on the plant about three weeks ago, after an asset audit determining the state of facility required to resume operations.
The engineers that were led by the Group Managing Director (GMD), Benue Investment and Property Companies (BIPC), Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, accompanied by his management team, assured that the rehabilitation of the plant was progressing and that the facility would soon be operational.
Speaking with newsmen at the site, last weekend, the technicians expressed optimism about the condition of the facility, noting that despite years of inactivity, most of the components at the plant were intact.
The expatriates and technicians, represented by Adilson Neres Da Silva and Henry Boager, who took turns to speak, explained that the equipment, programmable logic systems, power plant, water plant and other components required to reactivate the plant’s software are all in good condition.
They said they were targeting to test run the plant within the next 30 to 35 days, also declaring that they were optimistic to meet up with the declared date, since work to revive the factory was in top gear, as part of ongoing efforts to restore the factory to full production.
Meanwhile, the GMD, BIPC, Dr Raymond Asemakaha, explained that following the commencement of maintenance work, those involved in the work at the factory were brought in to handle critical aspects of the rehabilitation process.
According to him, Taraku Mills, a major agro-industrial processing plant that has been moribund since 2013 will process soybeans, maize, beniseed, and cassava.
He further stated that the plant is also expected to produce edible oil, Beer Grit that will be used at the food basket brewery, animal feed, and industrial raw materials once operational.
The GMD urged farmers across Benue state to increase the cultivation of soybeans to ensure adequate raw materials for the mill when production resumes.
Asemakaha emphasised that the revival of the Mill, aligns with the vision of the State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, to restore moribund industries and stimulate economic growth in the state.
The District Head of Mbaweghgba, Chief John Igbabul, who graced the occasion, commended Governor Alia for taking concrete steps to revive the factory, expressing confidence that the project would create jobs and boost economic activities in the area.
