American rapper Cardi B has sparked widespread reactions on social media after revealing the strict rule she would enforce if her son got a girl pregnant while still living under her roof.
In a video shared online, the Grammy-winning artist said becoming a parent comes with adult responsibilities, insisting that anyone old enough to have a child should also be prepared to live independently.
According to Cardi B, she would not allow her son to continue depending on her financially after making what she described as a “grown man decision.”
She explained that her stance would not be motivated by anger but by a desire to teach accountability, responsibility and independence
“If my sons ever tell me that they have a girl pregnant, the day that you tell me that you got a girl pregnant, it will be the day that you will have to get the f**k out of my house,” she said.
The rapper continued:
“And it’s not because I’m mean. It’s because once you make grown man decisions, you have to be a man. It’s no mommy’s money, it’s no daddy’s money, it’s no mommy’s roof.”
She added that her son would be expected to find a job and begin supporting himself.
“You have to get out of my house, and you have to get a job, and you’ve got to learn how to be a man,” she said.
Her comments have since generated mixed reactions online. While some social media users praised her emphasis on personal responsibility and independence, others argued that parents should continue supporting their children during major life transitions, even when they make mistakes.
