Following his absence from his associate and wealthy music executive Soso Soberekon’s wedding, Afrobeats musician Davido has been criticized on social media.
Soso Soberekon got married last weekend in Warri, Delta State, according to an internet news outlet.
Davido did not recognize the couple or offer them congratulations on his social media accounts, and he was conspicuously absent from the wedding.
Rather, the artist wrote about the impending Osun State governorship election and his travel to Dubai with his crew.
Reacting to the development, many Nigerians have continued to criticise Davido, while a few fans who defended him suggested he might not have been in the country or was simply busy with work.
Criticising Davido, comedian DeeOne said that with all Soso Soberekon had done for him, it should have been Davido arranging chairs for the wedding.
Describing him as a terrible human being off social media for failing to attend the wedding, for not sending any crew or family members to represent him, and for not even tweeting well-wishes for the couple.
He suggested that Davido was jealous of Soso Soberekon for being richer than him, alleging that Davido does not like anyone getting ahead of him and only wants people to do well, but never better than himself.
Also reacting, the SSA on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, wrote on social media that Davido was ungrateful to Soso.
Expressing disappointment in both Davido and Chioma for skipping the wedding, and noting that Soso Soberekon had done a great deal for Davido in recent years.
Another user identified only by an online handle also wrote that they sometimes do not understand Davido, questioning why he did not attend Soso’s wedding.
