Pastor-in-Charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), FCT Province 7, Gwarinpa, Abuja, Pastor Steve Oluyombo, on Saturday, urged Christians to position themselves for divine encounters, saying a single appointment with God has the power to transform lives, restore destinies and elevate people beyond human imagination.
Speaking during the church’s Moment of Grace service themed “Divine Appointment,” Oluyombo said God’s appointed time can change a person’s story permanently, regardless of past failures, delays or challenges.
“The Lord is here this morning and He is having an appointment with someone,” he declared, urging worshippers to approach God in faith and seek His mercy.
Drawing from Obadiah 1:17, he reminded believers that God delivers and restores those who trust in Him, leading the congregation in prayers for mercy and forgiveness.
“You are not approaching God as a sinner. Ask God for mercy for your known and unknown sins,” he said.
The cleric encouraged members to prepare spiritually for divine visitation, asking them to declare: “I am here prepared for my own divine appointment in the name of Jesus.”
Using the biblical account of Joseph, Oluyombo said God’s timing remains perfect even when circumstances appear unfavourable.
He recalled that Joseph’s journey from slavery and imprisonment to becoming Prime Minister of Egypt began when Pharaoh needed someone to interpret his dream.
“From the moment they called Joseph, his status changed. One divine appointment can move a man from the prison to the palace,” he said.
He urged worshippers to pray for divine elevation and enduring success, saying: “Father, I have come for my divine appointment; take me to every throne You have assigned to me.”
Quoting Psalm 102:13, he declared that God would arise to show favour to His children at the appointed time.
“This is your season of favour. Pray that God will show you mercy and grant you favour,” he told the congregation.
Oluyombo also urged believers to pray against every negative agenda of the enemy, asking God to cancel every “evil appointment” designed to derail their destinies.
Referring to 1 Kings 3:3-5, he said Solomon’s sacrificial worship attracted a divine encounter that changed the course of his reign.
According to him, acts of obedience, sacrifice and total commitment to God often provoke divine appointments.
He further cited Matthew 11:28, encouraging believers to surrender every burden to Christ.
“Whatever burden you have, failure, debt, unfruitfulness or generational challenges, God can usher you into His rest,” he said.
The pastor also referenced the healing of blind Bartimaeus, the restoration of the paralysed man at the Pool of Bethesda in John 5, and the deliverance of the Gadarene demoniac in Mark 5, describing them as examples of lives transformed through encounters with Christ.
He said every divine appointment brings restoration, healing, purpose and new beginnings.
“It does not matter how much your destiny has derailed; God can restore you,” he said, urging worshippers to trust God for a turnaround.
The service ended with prayers for restoration, divine favour and fulfilment of God’s purpose, with Oluyombo expressing confidence that those who genuinely seek God would experience life-changing encounters.
