Egypt’s Ministry of Interior has announced a broad reshuffle of senior security officials, appointing new leaders to several security directorates and police sectors as part of its annual restructuring process.
The ministry said the changes are intended to redistribute leadership responsibilities, strengthen security operations, and improve the efficiency of police services across the country.
Among the appointments, Major General Hatem Hassan was named Director of Security for Giza, Major General Hatem al-Haddad for Alexandria, Major General Ashraf Abdel-Malik for Sohag, Major General Ahmed Ezzat for Minya, Major General Walid al-Shabrawi for Qalyubia, and Major General Sherif Abdel-Mawgoud for Fayoum.
The reshuffle also included appointments in key police sectors. Major General Ahmed Khalaf was named Director of the General Directorate of Tourist Police, while Major General Alaa Fathi was appointed Director of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation in Giza.

In Cairo, Major General Alaa Bishandi retained his position as Director of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation, while Major General Hani Shaarawi was appointed Deputy Director of Security for Giza.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the annual reshuffle is part of its policy of assigning leadership positions based on operational needs, professional experience, and the ability to respond to evolving security challenges.
The ministry said the changes are intended to enhance the performance of security directorates and police sectors, improve responsiveness, support crime prevention efforts, and maintain public order while addressing the specific security requirements of each governorate.
It added that the annual appointments are designed to balance experienced leadership with the promotion of new officials, with the aim of strengthening policing and maintaining security and stability across Egypt.
