Former Bauchi Deputy Gov Baba Tela Loses Two Children In Fatal Road Crash

Two children of the immediate past Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Baba Tela, have died following a horrific motor accident along the Bauchi–Azare road.

The victims, identified as Mustapha and Ummi, were returning to Bauchi from Azare, the headquarters of Katagum Local Government Area, on Saturday when their vehicle crashed.

According to reports, both individuals died instantly at the scene due to the severity of the impact.

Their bodies were subsequently evacuated to a hospital in Bauchi, where they were officially pronounced dead.

In a swift reaction, the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, expressed profound shock and grief over the incident, describing it as a devastating blow to both the bereaved family and the entire state.

In an official statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Mohammed extended his deepest condolences to his former deputy.

“I received this heartbreaking news with deep sorrow.The loss of these two young lives in such tragic circumstances is a painful tragedy that has cast a shadow of grief over Bauchi State” The Governor said.

Governor Mohammed prayed for Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant the deceased eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, while asking for strength, patience, and fortitude for Senator Tela, his family, and friends during this trying period.

He also extended sympathies to others affected by the crash, praying for the quick recovery of any injured passengers.

The funeral prayer (Janaza) for Mustapha and Ummi is scheduled to hold today, Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the Emir’s Palace in Bauchi at 11:00 a.m.
