Police have stopped the hearse transporting the body of the late Apostle Prof. Emeritus Ing. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka from the Transitions Funeral Home after citing a court order, even as funeral activities continued at Gomoa Mpota.
The late leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission was scheduled to be buried on July 30, 2026, after family members, friends and sympathisers paid their final respects.
However, a 10-day interim injunction issued by the Accra High Court has disrupted the funeral and burial arrangements.
Before the development, the funeral grounds had been prepared to receive mourners, church members and sympathisers who had gathered to honour the renowned entrepreneur, inventor and religious leader.
The court order, issued on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, temporarily restrains former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo from proceeding with the funeral arrangements until the court determines the case before it.
Earlier, the Head of the Kantanka Family and Leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana, Nana Kojo Safo Akofena, announced the suspension of all burial arrangements, saying no funeral would take place until the court resolves issues surrounding the late Apostle’s will.
He explained that the decision came after efforts to unite family members and reach an agreement on the burial plans failed, despite interventions by traditional authorities, church elders and other respected personalities.
Apostle Professor Kwadwo Safo passed away on September 11, 2025.
