Nigeria Police Academy WhatsApp Channel Surpasses 50,000 Subscribers, Tops Security Agencies’ Digital Platforms

The Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC) says its official WhatsApp channel has surpassed 50,000 subscribers, making it the most-followed digital broadcast channel among Nigeria’s security agencies.
According to the Academy, the milestone reflects its efforts to strengthen public communication by providing verified updates and enhancing engagement through digital platforms.
POLAC attributed the initiative to the leadership of its 24th Commandant, Assistant Inspector General of Police Patrick Adedeji Atayero, who, it said, prioritised digital communication as part of the institution’s modernization agenda.
The Academy also said the achievement aligns with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to leverage technology in improving police-public relations and institutional transparency. It described the WhatsApp channel as a trusted platform for disseminating official information and countering misinformation.
The statement further encouraged sustained investment in the Academy’s digital presence across other social media platforms, including Facebook, X and Instagram, to broaden public engagement and strengthen communication. POLAC said it remains committed to expanding its digital outreach while promoting transparency and public confidence through timely and accurate information.
