Hollywood couple George and Amal Clooney have temporarily left their home in southeastern France after fast-moving wildfires swept through the region, forcing thousands of residents to evacuate.
The couple, who live in Brignoles with their nine-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander, confirmed their departure in a heartfelt letter addressed to the town’s mayor, Didier Brémond. According to reports, they admitted they were uncertain whether their home would survive the blaze.
“At this point we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment,” they wrote.
Despite leaving the area, the Clooneys pledged their support to the community, stressing that they remained committed to helping Brignoles recover once the fires were under control.
“As we evacuate Brignoles, we want to emphasise two things: first, we hope you and the people of our city are safe, and second, that Amal and I are committed to making sure that whatever happens to our village, we are part of this community and we’ll be part of making it whole,” the letter read.
George, 64, and Amal, 48, also own properties in Italy, England and Kentucky, but their French estate serves as one of their main family residences.
The wildfires have displaced thousands across France, with evacuations reported in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and the Gironde region as firefighters continue efforts to contain the flames.
