A group comprising friends, family members and concerned citizens has appealed to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to consider appointing retired Permanent Secretary Ahmad Tijjani Abdullahi to the Kano State Executive Council. The appeal was contained in an open letter signed by Malam Suleiman Isah and made available to journalists.
According to the letter, Abdullahi, a native of Ganduje in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, has more than 34 years of experience in education and public administration. The group said he holds a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counselling from Bayero University, Kano, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the same field.
The letter stated that Abdullahi began his career as a mathematics teacher before serving in various educational and administrative roles in Kano, Lagos and Abuja. He later worked with the National Commission for Mass Literacy and served as Executive Secretary of the Kano State Science and Technical Schools Board between 2015 and 2023.
According to the group, he was appointed Permanent Secretary in 2023, serving in the Ministry of Education and later the Office of the Head of Service until his retirement from the Kano State Civil Service in August 2024. The letter also stated that he currently serves as Deputy General Manager (Planning) at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).The committee commended Governor Yusuf’s administration for its “Kano First Agenda” and said Abdullahi’s experience in education, administration and public policy would be valuable to the state government.
It also noted that Abdullahi previously sought the APC nomination for the Kano State House of Assembly but later withdrew his ambition in the interest of party unity, describing the move as a demonstration of loyalty and commitment to public service. The group urged the governor to consider Abdullahi for appointment into the state executive council or any other position deemed appropriate.
