“He Is Innocent”- VDM Clears Femi Gbajabiamila on ₦400m Bribery Claim, Raises Fresh ₦54bn Allegation

Social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has claimed that Femi Gbajabiamila, President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, is innocent of allegations that he collected a ₦400 million bribe in the ongoing controversy surrounding the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

In a video, VDM argued that the bribery allegation had not been substantiated. However, he shifted attention to a separate allegation involving an alleged directive that reportedly enabled the release of ₦54 billion from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). According to VDM, the money was allegedly requested under a presidential directive, an action he questioned.

VDM further alleged that the directive sought 4% of the NUPRC’s revenue, split into 2.5% and 1.5%, with the latter allegedly earmarked for the “upgrading of crude oil and gas metering and transparency systems,” which he claimed had no legal basis in that context.

The Presidency, through Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, has consistently defended Gbajabiamila, maintaining that the Chief of Staff had no involvement in the PFIPC allegations. Onanuga stated that the PFIPC was a fictitious agency, alleging that its promoter forged official documents and falsely presented himself as a government appointee. President Bola Tinubu has since directed the ICPC to investigate the PFIPC controversy and all related allegations.

As of now, there is no publicly established evidence or official finding proving VDM’s allegation that Gbajabiamila illegally collected ₦54 billion from the NUPRC. The claim remains an allegation and has not been confirmed by investigative or judicial authorities.
