ASABA – The Joy Group of the Ojo Political Family last weekend celebrated its 20th year anniversary in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State to appreciate their Principal, Honourable Alphonsus Chukwutem Ojo, for two decades of consistent leadership and grassroots mobilization.
Speaking on behalf of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Abraham Dike thanked God for the life of Dr. Ojo, noting that he has impacted positively on the lives of his constituents, particularly members of the Joy Group.
He commended Dr. Ojo for keeping the group united in the past 20 years despite numerous political challenges.
“We thank all Joy Group members for their unwavering commitment and loyalty to Hon. Ojo’s political journey so far and for always seeking directions from him whenever the need arises”, Dike said.
Several other speakers at the event praised Dr. Ojo for sustaining the political family and transforming it into a leading grassroots political group in Ukwuani LGA.
They also lauded him for his humility and accessibility.
In his response, Dr. Ojo who is the Consultant to the Delta State Government on Health, thanked the facilitators for the kind gesture and pledged his future commitment to the wellbeing of the group.
He also appreciated members for their roles in ensuring the emergence of credible and experienced APC candidates in the last party primaries, and urged them to remain focused on voting all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
Dr. Ojo gave reasons for supporting APC candidates across all levels:
He described President Ahmed Bola Tinubu as an astute and courageous administrator who has taken bold decisions in the national interest.
“The removal of fuel subsidy has provided monumental funds to State and Local Governments for project execution, prompt payment of salaries and settlement of debts. His direct allocations to Local Governments have brought development to the grassroots”, he said.
He also cited the President’s fiscal policies, plan to decentralize government through Regional Governments, proposed State Police, and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, which he said has enabled indigent students to access interest-free loans.
On Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Dr. Ojo described him as a performing and detribalized leader and prudent financial manager, stressing that the Governor is doing well in road construction, education, healthcare and human capital development.
“He has improved hospital infrastructure and equipped them with modern facilities. The free medical care for the aged, widows, children and persons with disabilities, as well as the dialysis centers he established, will make Delta a medical tourism destination”, Ojo stated.
He noted that the Governor has achieved all these without borrowing, while engaging reputable contractors for quality delivery.
The former Lawmaker described Senator Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa as an experienced politician who has served at all levels of government and would bring valuable experience to the Senate.
Dr Ojo also paid glowing tribute to Rt. Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, saying that the lawmaker is performing well and deserves another term, adding that for equity, Ndokwa East should complete the tenure under APC before the seat rotates to Ukwuani LGA.
On the House of Assembly candidate, Hon (Chief) Chukwudi Dafe, Dr Ojo urged members to give their maximum support to the lawmaker, describing him as “our own”.
“Brothers and friends, I cannot thank you enough for your support in these past twenty years. I pray God to continue to bless our union for our common good”, Dr. Ojo concluded.
