“I Made Ghana Lose The World Cup Because One Minister Went To Church To Thank His Pastor Instead Of Thanking Me After I Stopped Harry Kane From Scoring — Kwaku Bonsam

Ghanaian traditional priest Nana Kwaku Bonsam has claimed responsibility for Ghana’s exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, alleging that he caused the loss after a minister thanked his pastor instead of him following his widely publicized ritual to stop England captain Harry Kane from scoring.

Speaking during a livestream with content creator LFC Girl, the controversial native doctor made the startling claim. “I made Ghana lose the World Cup because one minister went to church to thank his pastor instead of thanking me after I stopped Harry Kane from scoring,” he said.

Nana Kwaku Bonsam had gained widespread attention ahead of and during Ghana’s World Cup campaign after claiming to have performed spiritual rituals targeting Harry Kane, who was held scoreless in Ghana’s goalless draw with England on June 23.

He later said he “untied” Harry Kane, who went on to score in subsequent matches.

The priest, known in private life as Stephen Osei Mensah, has a long history of high-profile claims linked to football, including a widely circulated assertion that he was responsible for a knee injury suffered by Cristiano Ronaldo during the 2014 World Cup.

He did not name the minister he was referring to.

Here’s how he explained himself.
