Nigerian rapper Vector has opened up about the surprising way he met his wife, Yinka Coker, revealing that their love story began at a nightclub.

The rapper shared the story during a recent episode of the MENtality podcast, hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Banky W, where he reflected on relationships, societal expectations, and the importance of making personal decisions when choosing a life partner.

According to Vector, meeting his wife in a club challenged the common belief that women who visit nightlife spots cannot make suitable wives. He described Yinka as someone who is “super homely,” noting that first impressions or assumptions based on location can often be misleading.

The rapper explained that the encounter taught him not to rely solely on popular relationship advice, especially when it comes to finding a partner.

Speaking about how they met, Vector said:

“I met my woman in the club. You will not believe she is super homely. Who would have thought? What was the first attraction? She was rapping Heavy D.”

He added that people should be careful about blindly following societal opinions on relationships, as individual experiences differ.

“So, you can’t take advice when it comes to a life partner. The typical advice that I heard before then was that there were no good women in the club.”

Vector, however, clarified that he was not against seeking guidance from others but encouraged people to make thoughtful decisions based on their own experiences.

“I am not saying you shouldn’t take any advice, you can have a few people who give you good counsel then on your own, you can decide what works for you.”

Vector and Yinka Coker tied the knot in a civil ceremony in December 2022, and the couple are parents to a daughter.
