  • RMD discussed this during an interview on the Morayo Show.

Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, widely known as RMD, has opened up about one of the most memorable romantic gestures he has made for his wife, revealing that he once gifted her the biggest cheque of his career, valued at ₦100 million.

The actor shared the story during an interview on the Morayo Show, where he spoke about how his perspective on romance has evolved with age. RMD humorously noted that while traditional gifts like flowers and chocolates may have their place, many women now appreciate meaningful financial gestures.

Recounting the experience, the movie icon said that when he received the largest payment of his career, his first thought was to give it to his wife.

“When I got the biggest cheque I’ve ever received in my life, it was about ₦100 million. I told them, ‘Give it to my wife.’ When she received it, she asked, ‘Do you want me to keep it for your children?’ I told her, ‘No, keep it for yourself,” he revealed.

RMD, who recently celebrated his 65th birthday, described himself as a hopeless romantic and explained that his wife was deserving of such a gesture. He added that expressions of love often change as people mature and gain different perspectives on life.

Reflecting on his journey and milestone age, the actor said he considers every birthday a blessing, especially because both his parents passed away before reaching 60. He credited gratitude, a healthy lifestyle and maintaining a positive outlook for helping him stay youthful.

“I feel like I’m living on borrowed time. My parents didn’t make it to 60. My life is filled with gratitude. I’m grateful to be alive,” he said.

The actor’s revelation has generated admiration from fans and social media users, many of whom praised his thoughtful gesture and celebrated the strength of his long-lasting marriage.
