Nollywood actress and filmmaker Iyabo Ojo has accused several Ghanaian television stations of illegally broadcasting her latest movie, The Memory of You, without her permission or financial compensation.
In a statement posted on her social media page, Ojo expressed outrage after discovering that channels, including NETV, aired both parts of her film without obtaining a license or notifying her.
The actress appealed to Ghanaian authorities, including President John Dramani Mahama and the National Film Authority, to enforce the country’s copyright laws and suspend the licenses of offending stations.
Ojo noted that unauthorized broadcasting hurts filmmakers who invest significant resources into their work, joining fellow Nigerian producers Omoni Oboli and Bimbo Ademoye, who have previously raised similar concerns regarding unauthorized broadcasts in Ghana.
