Jigawa residents foil attempted cattle rustling

Residents of Auyakawa village in Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State have foiled an attempted cattle rustling operation and recovered two stolen cattle after chasing the suspected rustlers for several hours.

The incident was disclosed in a post shared on X on Tuesday by security analyst Bakatsine.

According to the post, the suspected rustlers allegedly stole the two cattle from the residence of one Sha’aban Abdullahi at about 3 a.m.

However, residents, particularly local youths in the community, quickly mobilised and pursued the suspects through nearby bushes and forests.

The post said the chase forced the suspected rustlers to abandon the stolen animals in Dalanbai Forest before fleeing the area.

“Last night, residents of Auyakawa village in Dutse LGA, Jigawa State, foiled an attempted cattle rustling after pursuing rustlers for several hours. The rustlers allegedly stole two cattle from the home of Sha’aban Abdullahi at around 3AM but abandoned the animals in nearby Dalanbai forest and fled as local youths closed in. The stolen cattle were successfully recovered, while the suspects escaped,” Bakatsine wrote.
