Kebbi Hisbah arrests three underage Qur’anic pupils over alleged possession of hard drugs

Kebbi State Hisbah Agency has arrested three underage Qur’anic school pupils, popularly known as Almajirai, for allegedly being in possession of hard drugs.
The development was disclosed by the agency’s Director of Da’awa and Public Awareness, Malam Sirajo Usman Kamba, while speaking with journalists in Birnin Kebbi.
Kamba said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, aged between 10 and 13 years, are from Niger State and Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to him, the agency has commenced investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the children’s involvement in the alleged offence, including the roles of their parents and teachers.
He noted that the agency was concerned about the growing exposure of children to harmful substances and other social vices.
The Hisbah official assured that appropriate measures would be taken to protect the children and guide them away from negative influences in society.
Kamba also reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to promoting moral values and safeguarding the welfare of children across the state.
The suspects are currently in the custody of the agency as investigations continue.
