KEDCO Reaffirms Commitment to Staff Safety, Distributes Protective Equipment

By Jabiru Hassan

Kano Electricity Distribution Plc (KEDCO) has reaffirmed its commitment to workplace safety with the distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to frontline workers at its headquarters in Kano.

The company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Abubakar Shuaibu Jimeta, said the initiative was aimed at strengthening the organisation’s health and safety culture and reducing the risk of electricity-related accidents involving staff and customers.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Jimeta said the safety of employees and customers remained a top priority for the company. “Every member of staff deserves to return home safely after work, and this can only be achieved by following safety rules at all times,” he said.

He directed employees to use appropriate PPE when carrying out official duties and urged them to avoid shortcuts that could compromise safety. The equipment distributed includes safety boots, helmets, reflective jackets and hand gloves, among other protective gear designed to help safeguard workers while performing their duties.

Jimeta also urged staff to make safety a daily practice and comply with the company’s safety guidelines. He said maintaining a safe workplace was a shared responsibility, adding that the PPE distribution formed part of KEDCO’s ongoing efforts to provide workers with the necessary equipment to perform their duties safely and effectively.
