Kidnappers Kill Former Benue SSG, David Salifu

Suspected kidnappers have reportedly killed a former Secretary to the Benue State Government (SSG), Prof. David Salifu.

Naijaonpoint learnt that Salifu died after sustaining gunshot injuries during an attack by the kidnappers in Wukari, Taraba State.

According to Daily Post, the incident occurred on Thursday while Salifu was travelling to Makurdi.

The former SSD reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds and was rushed to a hospital in Makurdi for treatment, but was later confirmed dead on Thursday night.

At the time of filing this report, neither the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Benue Command nor security authorities have issued an official statement on the attack.

Meanwhile, the leadership crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has deepened following the presentation of Certificates of Return to two rival candidates for the 2027 Benue State governorship election.

Naijaonpoint understands Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Michael Aondoakaa (SAN) received his Certificate of Return at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, after emerging as the governorship candidate of the faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Aondoakaa was accompanied by his running mate, Oyije Ochaekiti Ogbenjuwa, as well as prominent PDP leaders and stakeholders from Benue State.

However, in a parallel development, the rival faction of the party led by former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), also presented a Certificate of Return to Emmanuel Agbo, Director-General of the PDP Governors’ Forum, after declaring him the winner of its governorship primary.
